The most important and emotive item on the desk is the telephone. If it fails, business is lost. Making the correct choice is vital.
So many Technologies....
Connection from one business to another has traditionally been with PSTN or ISDN, but more recently using SIP trunks or IP (see du Pré's Jargon Buster)
Which way to Connect to the Network?
In the beginning, connection to the network was made using analogue PSTN lines. In the late '90s, digital ISDN lines were introduced to replace the ageing PSTN network.
In the early 2000s, the introduction of Internet Business Quality of Service (QoS) allowed another connectivity to be introduced making either PSTN or ISDN redundant.
This connectivity, SIP, offered VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) and was designed to replace both the PSTN and ISDN networks.
But one drawback remined. Telephone systems using PSTN, ISDN or SIP trunks all demanded major investment which by default would depreciate and become yesterday's technology, demanding further investment.
Is there an Alternative?
Yes, and it's available right now. No need to decide whether to use PSTN, ISDN or SIP. No depreciating telephone system.
Pure Hosted IP Telephony
Pure Hosted IP Telephony uses full business quality QoS VoIP and uses your Internet connection, thereby saving the costs of any PSTN, ISDN or SIP trunk connection, as well as the expensive telephone system itself.
All you invest in is telephones which can be as simple or featured as you need.
With the replacement of the PSTN, ISDN, and the other 14 separately cabled networks with the 21st Century Network (see 21CN), Pure Hosted IP telephony is here today.
But what about traditional Key Phone or PABX Telephone Systems?
For those businesses who wish to stay with traditional telephone systems, du Pré is partnered with the best of the major manufacturers, each of which offers connectivity PSTN, ISDN or SIP trunks, but not Pure Hosted.
Key Phone systems are for use where many users need a phone that offers alsmots as much functionality as a traditional switchboard.
PABX systems are mainly desiged for an Operator with extensions being mainly simple telephones.
