The following telephone numbering sequence is adopted in the UK.

00 is for International access.
01 is for National UK numbers.
02 is for National UK numbers.
03 is for Non Geographic Numbers.
04 is not used.

0500 is for Freephone numbers.
055 is for Corporate numbers.
056 is typically for VoIP services.

06 is not used.

070 is for Personal Numbers.
076 is for Radio Paging.
071 - 075 and 077 - 079 is for Mobile Numbers.

0800 and 0808 are for Freephone numbers.
0820 is for Internet and School Services.
0844 are Non Geographic Numbers, Semi Premium Rate numbers.
0845 are Non Geographic Numbers, Semi Premium Rate numbers.
0870 are Non Geographic Numbers, Semi Premium Rate numbers.
0871 and 0872 are Non Geographic Numbers, Semi Premium Rate numbers.

09 is for Non Geographic Numbers, Premium Rate numbers.

1 is for access to Operator services.
100 is for the Operator.
112 is for Emergency Calls.
118xxx is for Directory Services.
141 withholds CLI.

2 - 8 is for local area numbers.

999 is for Emergency Calls.
