| C reference point | An ISDN term. The interface between a private circuit (voice or data) and the CPE. |

| Cable Length | The actual physical length of a cable. |
| Cable Loss | The see attenuation of signals, caused by cable characteristics, normally quoted in see decibels for specific frequencies. |
| Cache Memory | Extra fast RAM that speeds up operation by storing frequently used information for easy access. CPU cache is a cache which reduces the average time for memory access. CPU cache is both smaller and faster, storing copies of data from the most frequently used main memory locations. When the CPU needs to read from or write to the main memory it first checks whether a copy of required data is in its cache. If so, the CPU immediately reads from or writes to this cache which is faster than reading from or writing to main memory. |

| Call Collision | Where an outbound call collides with an incoming call. Call collision can occur, for example, i) When an outgoing call is made at the same time that an incoming call arrives. ii) When a Voicemail system is not integrated with a telephone system, and therefore connected by POT telephone extensions. An incoming call can be presented to the Voicemail just as the Voicemail is about to outdial an extension to notify the user of a message. The incoming call collides with the outgoing message notification. |
