Samsung, the provider of business telephone systems for IT and telecoms services, has informed du Pré plc, Newbury-based IT and telecommunications supplier, that some telephone systems are set to be discontinued.

'For many years, Samsung has manufactured different phone systems. Some have been discontinued and parts are becoming scarce,' said Maxine Chadderton, Service Delivery Manager.

'Being pro-active, we want to prevent potential future problems when spare parts might not be avaiulable for when customers have support problems,' added Maxine.

Which systems are affected?

The following systems are discontinued - VIP, SKP 308H, NX308, NX828, DCS, iDCS100 and 500, Compact 1 and 2, OfficeServ 100 and 500, and Gaterway.

The Upgrade

To pre-empt this situation, customers with discontinued systems can have their existing main CCU upgraded to the latest generation of the new Samsung 7000 series IP ready CCU at a heavily subsidised price.

'The customer will keep all their existing handsets. It only requires the main CCU to be changed,' said Jon Dawkins, Senior Support Engineer.
