du Pré Connect hosted IP telephone system, a business telephone solution for flexible working, disaster recovery and business continuity, was demonstrated in Newbury, Berkshire today using an office telephone handset in middle of the town centre.

The du Pré Connect system uses cloud technology and offers an ultimately flexible system for companies, whether they need one telephone handset or several thousand.

For the demonstration a Cisco 7961 handset plugged into a laptop was connected to the Internet using a standard mobile broadband connection. Telephone calls were made and received with no physical connection and normal extension to extension dialling was maintained while speaking with other staff back at Head Office.

The du Pré Connect hosted IP mobile office was created outside Marks & Spencer and many shoppers stopped to see if office telephone calls really could be made.

"The service isn't a mobile phone," explained Simon Jones, Marketing Manager, who was managing his workload out in the open, albeit on a very chilly day. "Instead, we provide the ability for people to take their office telephone number and use it from anywhere."

Simon continued, "Today we were in the high street but we've used this in home-offices, hotels and airports, even world-wide, all with no set-up time and business-grade quality."
