Richard, du Pré has recently launched 'du Pré Connect'. What is it?

du Pré Connect is a communications service which replaces the traditional telephone system with an advanced ‘online’ network. Pure IP Telephony.

It allows phonecalls to be made without the need for any other hardware apart from telephones, and adds many extra benefits to improve the way you work.

What are these benefits?

The benefits can be summarised into three areas,

Flexible - Wherever your telephone is plugged in (office, home, customer site, overseas) it operates exactly as if it is in the office on your desk. This means internal people can always reach you by dialling just your extension, and external people can reach you by dialling your DDI number. It does not matter where you are.

For example, one of our customers was in Abingdon during the floods last week and found their office 3 ft deep in water. So all the staff simply took their office phones home and carried on working from there, and their customers had no idea there was even a problem. Business continued as normal for them, while it suffered for others.

The same thing would happen if your business moved to the other side of the UK, or even the world. You can keep all the same numbers and even map new numbers to the same phones as well as retaining the old numbers.

Economical - An online telephone system means no capital outlay on bulky hardware (such as a PBX), and you only pay for the services you use without needing to buy expensive, feature-rich hardware “just in case”. And as the additional services are switched on or off when you need them, you can scale up or down as your business changes. Wastage becomes a thing of the past.

Speed - Compared to installing traditional lines, du Pré Connect gets your business running fast. An ISDN2e circuit will usually take 20 working days from order to installation. du Pré Connect takes just 7 days. Furthermore, if you already have the right data connections in place it can be installed on the day you order!

Surely VoIP is just for students using their free 'Skype' accounts?

No. Skype is a consumer VoIP offering and not suitable for business calls.  It is often poor quality and can portray a very amateur image to a company’s customers. du Pré Connect offers calls as clear as a ‘normal’ telephone calls, but with all the benefits I just outlined.

So why did du Pré launch this product?

du Pré has always been at the forefront of the IT and telephony industry and we can immediately see the real benefits this will provide to our customers.

Being a leader in this field doesn’t come without lots of effort though; we’ve spent a long time testing the technology to ensure it’s fit to meet our clients expectations.

I use this service both at home and at work and I love it!

Lastly, you say you’ve launched this but is it really available now?

Yes. We’ve installed this service at numerous customer sites and they’re all seeing the benefits already. And it’s not ‘location dependent’ so we expect that customers all across the UK will soon be using du Pré Connect. Many of them have an international presence which makes the whole business of teamworking much more realistic.

We are very excited about this new launch and the great news is that our customers seem just as excited as we are!
