Lambeth Academy, run by the United Learning Trust, has recently opened its doors to students with a state-of-the-art networking facility implemented by Newbury, Berkshire-based business telephone specialist du Pré plc.

du Pré, a long-term BT partner, delivered a high performance networking solution that will support the use of a Managed Learning Environment for Lambeth Academy pupils and staff.

The United Learning Trust's requirements were extensive. Following considerable consultation and planning, du Pré delivered a resilient IP-based Cisco telephone system and a high capacity power-over-Ethernet switched network. The solution also incorporated BT Learning Stream, BT Net Flex, ISDN 30, Cisco Call Manager (AVVID), Cisco wireless Ethernet coverage and Cisco security.

Sales Director Richard Jones explains: "We already had an established relationship with the United Learning Trust's parent organisation, The United Church Schools Trust, for which we had implemented BT Learning Stream into several of their other schools. However, the requirements for Lambeth Academy were far more extensive. We designed and delivered a converged solution based on the products of two leading vendors and trusted brands - BT and Cisco. Acting as the single source of supply, our client didn't have to worry about dealing with several different companies. And since we are a BT partner, we handled the BT coordination and supply as well."
