What is the 21^st Century Network (21CN)?

21CN is a brand new next generation network (NGN) which has already started replacing all other voice and data networks throughout the UK.

Why another network?

Simplicity, business sense, and economics.

Simplicity, since it combines all networks into one therefore requiring no protocol translations.

Business sense, since there’s only one network and one protocol (IP) to manage.

Economics, since one network is far more efficient and much less expensive to maintain than the current sixteen*, some of which use old technology and are costly to keep running.

Telecoms companies are obliged to share these savings with customers, which means that everyone benefits.

* ISDN, PSTN, Frame Relay, X-25, etc

What does this mean to me?
